Andon: Cell Types

Electronic Digit Cell

An electronic digit cell allows the Andon to show variable quantitative information to the plant floor. Each cell is comprised of 1 to 10, 4" tall numeric LED display boards that can be read at a distance of over 120' away. These boards can be specified with super-bright tri-color (red, yellow, green) or red only LEDs that have a maintenance-free, continuous use life of over 10 years. Each board contains a leading decimal point LED that allows the user to show floating point data and each cell can show a leading minus sign for negative data. Digit cells can be used for several functions including:

• Whole number data: Production counts, Downtime minutes, TAKT clocks, etc.
• Floating point data: Average cycle times, OEE, Product weights, etc.
• Postive or Negative data: Variances, Monetary information, etc.
• Performance relative to Goal: Green for good, Red for bad, Yellow for marginal (requires tri-color digits)
• Immediate attention needed: Flash the digits for a large change that needs to be noted, etc.

Electronic Indicator Cell

An electronic indicator cell allows the Andon to show variable qualitative information to the plant floor. Each cell is comprised of an indicator board that is comprised of a 6 x 6 matrix of super-bright tri-color LEDs. Indicator cells like digits, have the same maintenance-free, continuous use life of over 10 years and can be viewed from over 120' away. This matrix can display up to 9 different icons in 3 different colors and optionally flashing. This combined with the 'blank' icon allows the user to show 55 different states with one cell. Indicator cells can be used for several functions including:

• Line or Cell Status: Green square for running, Yellow Circle for idle, Red X for down, etc.
• Simple Call Systems: Red square for parts needed, Green square for 'OK', etc.
• Escalation Call System: Red square for maintenance needed, Flashing Red square for maintance needed for more than x minutes, Yellow square for maintenance acknowledged and at the line, Flashing Yellow square for maintenance work over y minutes, Green Square for 'OK'.
• Complex Call System: Use the escalation call system mention above assign a different icon to each group; Square for maintenance, Circle for materials, X for quality, Hollow Square for supervisor, etc. If multiple people are needed, simply toggle between the appropriate icons.

Static Text Cell

A static text cell allows the Andon to give a caption of the data begin shown by an electronic cell. These cells are comprised of white vinyl letters applied to the black lens that are constructed from a 292 point Arial font. Changing a caption down the road can be done easily by sliding out the old lens and replacing it with a new one that has the correct caption.

Static Image Cell

A static image cell allows the Andon to be customized with your company logo, brand, slogan, etc. These cells are comprised of a white vinyl surface with your full-color artwork printed on it. As with Text cells, changing out artwork can be done with the simple replacement of a lens.
