SynopsisThe I/Gear Web Framework has a number of prerequisites. These prerequisites consist of software or updates that must be installed prior to the installation of I/Gear Web Framework. They also include various information needed during the installation.
Please review this list entirely and ensure that all prerequisites are met prior to installing the I/Gear Web Framework.SummaryRecommended Production Server Hardware
- Pentium 4 or Xeon
- 1 GB RAM
- Optionally Mirrored Hard Disks
Operating Systems
- Windows 2000 SP4 (Professional or Server)
- Windows XP
- Windows 2003 Server
- Internet Information Services (IIS)
- ASP must be installed (not installed w/ IIS by default)
Prerequisites
The following components are recommended to be installed prior to installing I/Gear Web Framework 5.1. Pre-installing these components will reduce the number of reboots required by the Web Framework setup.
However, if you do not have access to these components, the Web Framework will install them for you automatically.
- Internet Information Services
- .NET Framework 1.1 *
- Internet Explorer 6.0 *
- MDAC 2.8 * (requires a reboot during the setup)
- SQL Server or MSDE 2000 ( If a SQL Server instance is not available for the Web Framework the setup has an option to install MSDE 2000 )
Service Account Name & Password
To enable Windows Active Directory or Domain security integration, the Web Framework Setup requires an active domain account.
- Should have a password that does not change
- Should be exclusive to the I/Gear Web Framework
- Should also be local administrator on the web server
SQL Server
I/Gear Web Framework 5.1 can report information from any OLE-DB compliant data source. However, I/Gear Web Framework requires an instance of SQL Server to store configuration information. If you are not using SQL Server as your standard DBMS, the Web Framework can install a small standalone instance of SQL Server called MSDE 2000 (Microsoft Data Engine 2000).
If you are using a separate SQL Server 2000 database, it must be installed prior to installing Web Framework 5.1.
When installing a separate instance of SQL Server, it should be setup for mixed mode authentication.
